From Ronco we once again cross the Ticino River (Gana bridge) and go back up the road through the Valleggia Alp Alpine pasture. From here onwards we may carry on along the mountainside touching the Folcra Alp, Great Stabiello (Stabiello Grande), the Cristallina Alp, the Di Pescia Plain (Piano di Pescia), Cassina della Croce, Riunò Valley, Ants’ Plain (Piano delle Formiche), Pozzuolo Valley, Pescium Alp – New Cassina (Cassina Nuova), and at last, Pesciùm, reachable via an intermediary Cableway station from which we may descend directly down to Airolo near the Gottardo Cheese Production Place. Alternatively one can go up to Nante (1,423 meters above mean sea level) on foot and then go down to Airolo, the main settlement of the Leventina Valley, at the bottom of the Mountain Pass and at the bottom of the Gottardo tunnel. The Gottardo Cheese Production Place (www.cdga.ch) is one of the destinations of the Alpine Pastures Without Boundaries Tour with its attached demonstration area, shop, and restaurant.
