Just behind the Mountain Pass’s Hospice the path goes up towards Mount Leone, coasting a water canal which feeds into the Rotel Lake. From the service pipes we go up leaping across moraine relics, always along a good path, up to a meadowed crag from where one can glance at suggestive panoramic views of the mountain peaks of the Rodano Valley. The path thus goes back up the moraine just in front of the north side of Mount Leone; snowfields and the nice Kaltwasser Lake fill out the basins. Resting under the mountainside of the Terrarossa Peak, we find the Mount Leone Mountain Hut. Here we find ourselved a few hundred meters away from the Aurona Small Mouth (Bocchetta d’Aurona) just before the Veglia basin.
