This stage coincides with the R92 stage of the Alpine Way Red Itinerary (Via Alpina itinerario rosso). We leave Robiei towards the west and then go up slowly, passing by the Lake Matörgn, up to the Maggia Valley Pass (Bocchetta di Val Maggia) from where we return to Italy. The path goes down steeply among a vast stone-pavement up to the Lakes Boden, after which via high-altitude prairies we rech the Castel Alp which lies in the area of production of the renown Bettelmatt cheese, the Lake Castel dam and finally crosses the Riale – Saint Giacomo Pass road. We follow onwards and than take the G20 path which cuts through numerous hairpin bends up until we get to Riale.
