Starting from Riale follow the San Giacomo Mountain pass built in the 20s to serve the workers building the Toggia and Castel dams, a true masterpiece, with reduce slope and perfectly aligned hairpin bends. Once the Toggia Dam has been reached we cross it and we stay along the lake for a brief stretch (be careful as the trail is very exposed and somewhat dangerous), so we take a track with modest slope until we retreat in direction of the Castel Lake. From the Castel Lake a new track put together by ENEL reaches the Ghighel Alp. From the guard house of the Castel Lake up to the Ghighel Alp a “flowered path” has been put together, a self-guided path with descriptive panels amidst these grassy lands of special naturalist and botanical interest. The relative multimedia content can be downloaded from our site www.cariplovegliadevero.it

Along the path leading back to our starting point it is possible to take a shortcut: as soon as we get to the Castel Dam valley we can follow the road which goes down directly towards the crossroads from which Riale can be reached just a little bit below the Maria Luisa mountain hut.
