This ancient traffic route of people and merchandise of Cannobio takes its name from Saint Carlo Borromeo who made a pastoral visit in the valley in 1574. The saint slept in Gurro, where the beautiful "Casa S.Carlo" preserves his memory. Along the mule track two modest newsstands recall the episode of the poor mule that transported Borromeo and that, in the stretch where the mule track begins to descend into the Cavaglio valley coming from Traffiume, the illustrious pilgrim jumped from the saddle and miraculously escaped the disastrous flight in the abyss that would have been fatal. The route connects the Sanctuary of Re in Val Vigezzo with the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Pietà in Cannobio and allows you to discover the most suggestive corners of the Cannobina valley.
